Prof. Dr. Nuzahat Shafi is a renowned academic and researcher in Zoology, currently serving as the Chairperson of the Department of Zoology at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK). She completed her Ph.D. in Zoology from UAJK under the joint supervision of Prof. Dr. Khurshid Anwar (UAJK) and Prof. Dr. Afsar Mian (Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi).

She began her academic career in 1996 as a Lecturer in the Department of Zoology and has since remained dedicated to teaching and research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. With over 40 research publications in reputable national and international journals, Dr. Shafi has made significant contributions to the field.

As a seasoned supervisor, she has guided 38 BS/MSc students, 33 M.Phil. scholars, and 5 Ph.D. candidates, with several others currently under her mentorship. Her research endeavors are further supported by successful completion of projects funded under the National Research Program for Universities (NRPU).

Beyond her academic roles, Dr. Shafi has actively contributed to university governance and faculty representation, having served as Member Syndicate (UAJK), President of the Academic Staff Association at UAJK. She is also affiliated with various professional organizations, including the Zoological Society of Pakistan (ZSP), the Pakistan Fisheries and Aquaculture Society, and the Asian Ichthyological Society. Currently, she serves as Vice President and Executive Council Member of the ZSP.

Prof. Dr. Nuzahat Shafi is widely respected for her commitment to scientific excellence, student mentorship, and institutional leadership, making her a prominent figure in Pakistan’s academic and research community.
