Department of Physical Therapy And Rehabilitation Sciences
Physiotherapy is a vital pillar of the modern healthcare system — a science of healing and an art of caring. It focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of functional impairments related to the musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems. It plays a key role in managing conditions associated with pain, edema, limited mobility, structural imbalances, postural issues, and psychosomatic symptoms.
Physiotherapists employ evidence-based approaches to restore movement, promote recovery, enhance functional independence, and improve quality of life. The scope of physiotherapy extends across the entire human lifespan and includes:
Clinical Specializations
- Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation: Management of orthopedic injuries, joint dysfunction, fractures, and post-trauma cases through manual therapy, exercise, and electrotherapy.
- Neurological Rehabilitation: Treatment of stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, and neuropathies using neuroplasticity-based interventions.
- Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation: Enhancing respiratory and cardiac function, especially in ICU and critical care units.
- Sports Physiotherapy: Prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries and return-to-play protocols.
- Pediatric & Geriatric Physiotherapy: Addressing developmental disorders in children and age-related challenges like balance disorders in the elderly.
